We take our first principles of small batch, fast feedback and direct & transparent communication seriously. We use the Situation-Behavior-Impact (SBI) Feedback Model and monthly feedback to keep our teams sharp and aligned.

SBI Feedback: Direct, Clear, Timely

The SBI Feedback model is our weapon of choice for giving precise, constructive feedback. Here’s how it works:

Situation: Set the scene. Mention the specifics—what, where, when, and who.

Behavior: Describe the specific actions or reactions without adding your judgments.

Impact: Explain how this behavior affected you, the team, or the project.

This model keeps feedback straightforward and impactful. It’s not about fluff; it’s about actionable insights that help us grow individually and as a group.

Monthly Feedback: Consistent Growth and Alignment

Monthly feedback is a structured recap of each Liatrian’s performance over the last month. It’s not about annual reviews or occasional check-ins; it’s a regular touch-point to keep everyone on track.

Objectives:

  1. Recognize Successes: We highlight and celebrate what went well.
  2. Identify Areas for Improvement: We point out where there’s room to get better, always constructively.
  3. Consistent Feedback: We ensure feedback is regular, timely, and honest.
  4. Support Needs: We provide resources, training, and any help needed to excel.

Process:

  1. Weekly 1:1s: These are crucial conversations that keep us in sync.
  2. Observation: We continuously monitor performance, looking for wins and areas to address.
  3. Documentation: We document feedback in a concise one-pager, so there are no surprises.
